Our Organization

The Center for Health and Democracy, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, serves as a counter to the health care industry's corporations, lobbyists and others who spread disinformation or exert undue political influence on the policy-making process.

Our Mission

The Center for Health Care and Democracy advocates for meaningful, nonpartisan patient-focused health care reform at the federal and state levels and in the marketplace.

Our Work

We have extensive knowledge of the U.S. health care system and the growing financial strain on Americans caused by the business practices of the health insurance industry.

Our work, which is nonpartisan, educational and collaborative, includes:

Regularly engaging with members of Congress and state legislators across the political spectrum.

Convening major business leaders committed to securing quality health insurance with lower out-of-pocket costs for their employees.

Keeping physicians, other health care professionals, the media, lawmakers, regulators and patient advocates informed with up-to-date knowledge and insights.

Our Leadership

The Center for Health and Democracy's president, Wendell Potter is a leading advocate for health care reform in both the political arena and the marketplace. He is also the editor-in-chief of HEALTH CARE un-covered, which investigates and reports on health care corporations and insurance conglomerates. He frequently posts on X.
